Working Families Party

John,

We’ve been looking over the responses to our February WFP member survey, and one thing is clear: right now, it feels like everything is coming at us. The challenges are real, but so is our collective power to shape what comes next — together.

If you haven’t completed the February WFP member survey yet, can you take a minute to do so now? We value hearing from each and every one of you, and your responses are collectively helping to guide our priorities as we navigate these tough times and plan for 2025 and beyond.

Day after day, we’re witnessing Trump and his allies wage relentless attacks on working people — from gutting programs we rely on, to giving billionaires like Elon Musk unchecked power to dismantle government agencies under the guise of “cutting costs,” to rolling back protections that keep our communities, our parks, and even our airplanes safe. This is happening everywhere, in red states and blue states alike — and it’s overwhelming, John. It’s scary.

In fact, those were the top two words that you used when we asked you to describe how you're feeling at this moment.

But there was another word that came through just as strongly: Determined

And that third word? That’s the one we need to hold onto.

Because when we come together — when we stay determined and refuse to retreat into cynicism, when we block out the negative messages designed to make us feel powerless — we know we can win.

You also made it clear what’s driving so many of us right now. When we asked what priority was motivating you the most, these were the top three responses:

  • Defending democracy and fighting back against MAGA extremism (55.9%)

  • Organizing to win pro-working families policies and defend communities at the local level (19.6%)

  • Electing more champions at the state and local level and in special elections (18.2%)

And when we asked which issues you feel are most urgent, these were your top responses:

  • Democracy and voting rights (56.0%)

  • Climate crisis (41.8%)

  • Taxing the rich and corporate accountability (37.2%)

  • Health care and Medicare for All (34.3%)

The forces trying to destroy the government so they can steal from working people want us to feel like we’re powerless to stop them. But we know better.

We know that when we come together, we have the power to upend the status quo. History has shown us that movements like ours can win — and we can do it again.

So, if you haven’t already, please take one or two minutes to fill out the February WFP member survey.

Surveys like this are an invaluable opportunity for us to hear from WFP members about your ideas, your priorities, and how you plan to get more involved. And right now, your input and your involvement have never been more critical.
