One of Rashida’s strengths is being out in the community, knocking on doors and connecting with people through community events and volunteering. That’s how we won in 2018: People got a chance to meet Rashida and see how she’s a true public servant who listens to and fights for her constituents.

But with Michigan’s current stay-at-home orders (which are saving lives!), we’re forced to run a different kind of campaign from the one we ran in 2018.

We’re Rashida’s Field Director (Oscar) and Lead Digital Organizer (Elias). Hello! Due to the pandemic we’re pretty much linked at the hip—virtually, of course!

Here we are, circled in blue, on a recent zoom call with new volunteers, and Rashida’s in the middle:

Since we can’t recruit volunteers for traditional field activities like door knocking and literature drops, we’re innovating to activate Rashida’s volunteers online and give them the ability to reach out to likely voters online and by phone.

We’re working with other staff who are also using digital tools to do community wellness checks and connect residents of Michigan’s 13th district with essential resources, and staff who are organizing virtual town halls with Rashida and the public.

But technology takes financial resources, and with just over two months until Rashida’s August 4th primary, we need your support now. By midnight tonight, we need to raise at least $20,000. What we’re able to raise before tonight’s midnight fundraising deadline will help determine how many voters we can reach through phone calls, text messages, and other forms of direct voter contact.
