John, Valentine’s Day might be over, but we always show love and gratitude to our veterans and first responders.

This weekend we wrapped up our 4th annual Valentines for Veterans and First Responders drive and thanks to the generosity of students, families, and community members across the South Sound we delivered more than 5,000 valentines full of messages of gratitude and support to veterans and first responders across our district over the holiday weekend!

This year was particularly special because we expanded our reach overseas for the first time and delivered another 500 Valentine’s Day cards to JBLM troops deployed in Korea!

The South Sound is home to over 100,000 veterans, nearly 40,000 active-duty service members, and thousands of first responders.

Service is at the heart of our community, and it’s important that we show our appreciation not just on holidays, but every single day.

As the daughter of a veteran, I grew up with a deep respect for all those who serve. I know the challenges military families face – from housing and healthcare to job opportunities after service. When I ran for Congress, I made a promise to be a strong advocate for military families and first responders–and I’ve worked hard every day to live up to that promise.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Valentines for Veterans drive. Your kindness and support make a real difference.

Talk soon,

Marilyn
