John, I think it’s time for Pennsylvania to legalize adult-use cannabis. I’ll explain my thoughts in a moment, but if you agree, sign your name next to mine here >> [[link removed]]
As a father of four, witnessing adult-use cannabis become widely legalized over the last few years wasn’t an easy issue for me to come to terms with. I understand the hesitation of so many Pennsylvanians who believe in personal freedoms, but are worried about the real-world effects.
But I took the time to study this issue and understand its impacts. And at the end of the day, Pennsylvania has a choice — a choice between continuing the black market of drug dealing versus a highly-regulated industry with protections in place for our children. Letting this industry operate in the shadows just doesn’t make sense.
And let’s not be naive, John. All folks have to do right now to buy adult-use cannabis is drive across the border to one of five neighboring states – and when they do, Pennsylvania loses out.
By doing nothing, Pennsylvania will continue to lose out on an industry that, over the first five years, would bring in $1.3 billion in new tax revenue to our Commonwealth.
In total, 24 states have legalized adult-use cannabis. John, it’s time to bring Pennsylvania forward, expunge the records of people who have been convicted for nonviolent possession of small amounts of marijuana, and welcome this new industry to our Commonwealth.
If you agree, sign your name to my petition today calling on Pennsylvania to legalize adult-use cannabis and bring our Commonwealth up to speed with our neighbors. Adults are already buying cannabis, John. So let’s keep those tax dollars right here in Pennsylvania.
