That’s why Protecting Immigrant Families (PIF), Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), and Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry are launching The Herlinda Project—a new initiative designed to help immigration attorneys and others understand the basics of safety net programs. New Webpage: Public Charge Updates for Families
A new page on our website provides timely public charge information for families, as well as links to PIF resources for communities. It also offers a link to the KeepYourBenefits.org [[link removed]] site, which includes a search tool people can use to learn more about how public charge applies to their own immigration status. Advocacy: Protecting SNAP and Child Nutrition Programs
House and Senate leadership are advancing a budget plan through a fast-track process known as reconciliation. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and child nutrition programs are slated for significant cuts. The Food and Research Action Center has provided a sign-on letter [[link removed]] for national, state, or community-based organizations (authorized signers only) to push back against proposals to cut, gut, and/or weaken SNAP and child nutrition programs in budget reconciliation or in the Farm Bill. The letter is available to view and sign via the link below.
