Hi John,

Just hours ago the Center for Biological Diversity sued the Trump administration over a huge, illegal giveaway to Big Oil.

In his first hours in office, Trump revoked protections from offshore drilling for massive areas of ocean and coastal waters. This violates the law and must be challenged in court.

Please support our legal fight against Trump now with a gift to the Future for the Wild Fund.

Federal waters along the eastern Gulf, Atlantic, Pacific, and Alaska were protected by President Biden.

And that was legal: The law authorizes a president to withdraw offshore areas from oil and gas leasing.

Also by law, no other president can reverse those protections once granted.

Trump did it anyway, kicking off his second round with a slew of unlawful acts — this one threatening marine wildlife from sea to shining sea.

Our lawsuit today is the first environmental lawsuit against the Trump administration to protect oceans from offshore drilling.

Trump's mantra is to drill, drill, drill away the natural world to line billionaires' pockets.

But there's no such thing as safe offshore drilling — it's a destructive practice from start to finish, in some of the world's most sensitive ecosystems. We've seen the horrific toll of oil spills time and time again.

Opening up more waters to the oil industry is wrong in every way. Whales, sea turtles, manatees, and countless other species will have nowhere to turn.

This is why laws were created to protect vulnerable ocean ecosystems, their wildlife, and our teetering climate.

Trump chasing an anti-wildlife agenda is hardly surprising. But the law in this case is clear. We're confident we'll keep up our nearly 90% success rate against him in court to preserve the wild world we all love.

There will be more many fights ahead. We're just getting started.

Please give now to the Future for the Wild Fund.
