Team, at some point under Donald Trump’s leadership, the Republican party decided that they should just lie to the American people.
Really, they just lie and lie about anything they want because they know nobody on their side will hold them accountable for being wrong.
Just look at Elon Musk’s DOGE.
The other day they claimed on their website to have saved taxpayers $8 billion by cutting a contract that turned out to only be $8 million. Huge difference. To put that in perspective, $8 million is only 0.1% of $8 billion.
But did they correct that mistake? Of course not, they just removed the screenshot on their own website that proved they were lying about how much money they saved. And now it seems they even changed the amount in the federal database to cover their screwup:
Another lie: Elon Musk tweeted that there are millions of people with a listed age of 120 years or older in the Social Security system, receiving fraudulent checks. Trump repeated the claim at a press conference, too. If true, it would be a multi-billion dollar fraud.
But it turns out Elon just didn’t understand how the Social Security Administration codes their data. Funny how he missed that, since he considers himself one of the smartest men in the world.

So now that this lie was easily debunked, did Elon correct himself? Of course not, because lying is part of their strategy. And the millions and millions of people who saw his lie on Twitter or heard Trump lie on the news will not see these fact checks.
Friend — It’s clear that DOGE is turning out to be exactly what we expected: A way for Elon and Trump to justify more tax-breaks and handouts for the mega-rich based on “savings” that are either unconstitutional or flat-out incorrect.
If we want to stand up for the truth against a flood of lies, it will take more than just a few fact checks.
We have to build a big, diverse, and durable movement to oppose Trump and Musk. A movement that will bring the truth to each and every community in this country and fight for the real solutions that will help Americans, not misguided ploys like DOGE.
Solutions like providing healthcare, housing, and education so every American can thrive. Solutions that lift people up rather than cut them down.
