Friend, last week Trump and Elon Musk made it harder to find a cure for cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart attacks, strokes, and other debilitating diseases that devastate millions of American families by illegally cutting funding to the National Institutes of Health.

For people who love to call themselves ‘patriots’, MAGA Republicans don’t seem to understand the history of patriotism in this country.

In 1775, the ‘shot heard round the world’ was fired at the Battles of Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts, marking the beginning of the American Revolution and our fight for independence from a king in Britain.

So yes, Massachusetts is where revolutions are born. And no, that is not ‘socialism’. It’s American patriotism.

The way I see it, an unelected billionaire looking to rig government systems to line his own pockets is currently playing dictator. He’s unconstitutionally slashing jobs and infiltrating federal agencies. He’s ignoring the separation of powers that makes our democracy not only special in the world, but also possible.

I believe the very thought of our current situation would make those American Revolutionaries sick to their stomachs watching what is happening to the democracy and the Constitution that they fought for.

What we need now is a political revolution — not one with muskets and cannons, but a grassroots movement that will stand up to Elon Musk and Donald Trump and MAGA extremists at every turn, using every lever of power we have to block their agenda and build public support for a fair and just future we want to see.

That means using what powers we have in Congress to stop Trump’s cabinet nominees and investigate his administration. It also means tapping into the power of the courts, the power of organized labor, the power of local political organizing, the power of direct action, and much more.

We can’t afford to throw our hands up and admit defeat just because Republicans have the majority in Washington. I’m calling on anyone — Democrats, Independents, and Republicans — who are willing to stand up for the Constitution to join me.
