John,

Trump is blocking millions of dollars in essential disaster aid to states.

But it seems to not be all states. Three states having their funding blocked are New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. Hmmmmmm, wonder why? 🤨 (We’ll give you a hint: it has to do with the color blue).

This petty, political move is going to cost American families their stability and livelihoods in the event of natural disasters. And it’s SEEC members in Congress who are relentlessly leading the charge to undo and oppose Trump’s atrocious climate actions – will you power their work with a donation today to show you have their backs? At a time when disasters are becoming even more common, we need to be allocating more funding to climate resiliency – not less.

This latest action from the Administration declares that New Jersey, New York, and Vermont must stop work on flood protection activities related to “environmental justice”, “minorities”, or “diversity.” Not only is this morally abhorrent , but it also fundamentally misunderstands the impacts of climate change.

Climate change will not be felt equally by everyone – the most marginalized, lowest-income communities will be the most at risk. Time and time again, it has been shown that communities of color are disproportionately affected – with the areas in the top quintile of Black householders facing the highest flooding risk.

But Trump and his mess of an administration don’t care. It’s all about punching down and using buzzwords. He doesn’t care about the lives that will be lost if we stop these efforts.

We need leaders who care. We need leaders who truly believe that blessed are the meek. Can you please send a donation to ensure we elect climate champions to Congress that will fight for the most marginalized among us? [[link removed]]
