![]() John, Here in Montana, voters understand that health care shouldn’t be a partisan issue. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or an independent — we all need health care, and we all need it to be affordable. Today, over 200,000 Montanans are enrolled in Medicaid, a life-saving program that grants families the freedom to access health care without the fear of bankruptcy. Medicaid covers over 30 percent of Montana’s children, over 35 percent of births, and over 20 percent of our state’s population as a whole. Every day, thousands of Montanans rely on Medicaid to stay healthy. But just weeks ago, Republicans in Washington voted to cut nearly $1 trillion from this successful, life-saving program.
John, Medicaid is the single largest health insurer for children in America. Nationwide, it covers over 30 million kids, including 65,000 here in Montana — many of whom have special health care needs. But if National Republicans get their way, they could force a countless number of Montana families to either face the threat of bankruptcy or forgo health care as a whole. Let’s be clear: These extreme politicians want to rip away health care from low-income Montanans, threaten to close rural hospitals, and raise costs for everyone else — all to pay the price of their $4.5 trillion tax handout to the ultra-wealthy. Their plan is a complete and total rip-off, John — unless you’re a billionaire like Elon Musk.
