Tina for Oregon

John, addressing Oregon’s homelessness crisis has been one of Tina’s top priorities.

Since day one, she’s been laser-focused on expanding the availability of affordable housing across the state by cutting the red tape and making it easier to build homes that people can afford.

We need to build even more housing — but while we do that, we also need to ensure that people have a place to go now to get the help they need to get back on their feet.

That’s why Tina has proposed legislation to create a statewide homeless shelter program that would provide anyone experiencing homelessness the opportunity to find shelter anywhere in the state.

In 2023, Tina declared a homelessness state of emergency to address the growing crisis and since then, local governments, shelters, and other services have stepped up to provide shelter for homeless Oregonians. Tina’s proposal would formalize this approach by establishing a system of regional coordinators tasked with overseeing local shelter funding.

To be clear, growing the system of shelters is only part of the solution — but widely accessible shelters are a critical component of Tina’s ultimate objective, ending the homelessness crisis in Oregon.
