Hey team, Wes Moore here – Governor of Maryland.

In a moment, I want to tell you why Democratic governors are more important than ever before. But first, I need to know: amid the chaos and irresponsible leadership in Washington, what do you want Dem govs to focus on in the states?

So look, team – there’s a lot going on in DC right now, and not a whole lot of it is very good. We’re watching the Trump administration firing thousands of public servants and dismantling programs like Medicaid, SNAP and CHIP.

I want to be clear: these reckless actions are hurting our people and they’re hurting our economy. And while we didn’t create the challenges we currently face, we will work through them together. It’s our responsibility to weather the storm and set us on the path to a sunny future. Here are just a few examples of what your Dem govs are doing to fight for you:

- Here in Maryland, I established a plan to recruit laid off federal workers into available state jobs to strengthen communities, and protect our local economies.

- In Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed 16 bills expanding access to contraception and removing barriers to reproductive care.

- In Kansas, Gov. Laura Kelly unveiled a plan to more than double the state’s hourly minimum wage from $7.25 to $15, marking the first increase since 2010.

- In Wisconsin, Gov. Tony Evers’ 2025-27 budget includes over 10 policies to address high prescription drug costs – including price caps, stronger oversight of drug companies, and measures to protect consumers from price gouging.

We are standing with our people, we will defend our people, and we will protect our people.

And with 38 races – or three-quarters of our nation’s governors – on the ballot in 2025 and 2026, and chaos unfolding in Washington, it’s never been more critical for us to be in lockstep with grassroots Democrats like you. We rely on top supporters to help us understand what our top priorities should be, especially as we face so much uncertainty.
