The old order of the Trans-Atlantic system is crumbling before our eyes and the desperation from those who believe themselves to be the rulers of that order is plain for all to see. The Trump administration has cut off the sharing of military intelligence with the Ukrainians, at least for the time being, and has also ordered the U.K. to suspend any British sharing of U.S. intelligence with Ukraine. In this recent turn of events, the so-called British-U.S. “special relationship” is in severe jeopardy, which could become a great benefit to humanity if it is indeed ended for good.

The Europeans, eager to keep the war against Russia going, are desperately trying to figure out how they will continue to fund and arm it without depending on the U.S. to do so. EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is proposing an €800 billion “Rearm Europe” plan which would even bypass the European Parliament.

The Middle East also has potential for a profound change, but is still in a very precarious situation. Special envoy to the Mideast Steve Witkoff stated that the proposal from Egypt for reconstructing Gaza was a “good-faith first step.” However, the Gazans are still experiencing shortages of food, fuel and other necessities as the Israeli government has been blocking any aid from going in since March 2.

If the Egyptian proposal were adopted, and if the Trump-initiated talks between the U.S. and Iran were followed through, we could see peace break out not only on the Ukraine front but also in Southwest Asia. For long-term peace to succeed, though, only LaRouche’s Oasis Plan, which would bring much needed water and power to the region, would be able to accomplish that and overcome the many generations of animosity held by both the Israelis and Palestinians.

Only a new economic and security architecture which benefits all nations as proposed by Helga Zepp-LaRouche would be able to secure the peace internationally in the long-term as well. In his Tuesday March 4th speech to a joint session of Congress, President Trump posited the idea of a "Golden Dome" strategic missile defense for the United States. Trump asserted that "Ronald Reagan wanted to do that long ago but the technology just wasn't there." But what exactly WAS the proposed technology and intention behind President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI)?

On May 31, 1977, LaRouche and his associates published a 40-page pamphlet titled "Sputnik of the Seventies: The Science Behind the Soviets' Beam Weapon," which reported on Soviet breakthroughs in advanced laser physics and their potential military and economic use. LaRouche's subsequent campaign for a crash program for "beam weapon defense" for the United States was what in fact became adopted as President Ronald Reagan's SDI on March 23, 1983.

Friday Symposium

Just a few weeks ago, New York Congresswoman Claudia Tenney created the Friends of Judea and Samaria Caucus in the House of Representatives. Why would a Presbyterian be advocating for an Israeli land grab, and why did another New York Congresswoman, Elise Stefanik (Roman Catholic), say that God wants the Palestinian territory known as the West Bank to be violently and murderously seized by Israel? Isn't it of interest that Tenney's caucus has no Jewish members?
