John—
Imagine you’re a Tennessee state legislator. Your state has seen over 21,000 cases of COVID-19. More than 350 of your neighbors have died since March.1
Over 558,000 of your constituents have filed for unemployment in the last several weeks, and the unemployment trust fund could run out in just weeks.2,3
What would your priorities be?
For Republican members of the House Public Health Subcommittee, it’s advancing multiple bans on abortion — not helping their constituents.
Even as the pandemic continues, it’s back to “business as usual” for anti-choice extremists in Tennessee. Chip in $15 now to help fight back against extreme bans on abortion in Tennessee and in states across the country →
Even now, radical anti-choice politicians are obsessed with putting their own backward ideology over public health — instead of focusing on solutions to a major global crisis and the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression. It’s appalling.4
They're supposed to be working for us — being real public servants. But attacking our reproductive freedom and controlling our personal decisions is evidently more important to them than doing their job.
The Subcommittee advanced a near-total ban on abortion. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also advanced a mega-ban with multiple provisions to prevent pregnant people from accessing care. It mirrors a Tennessee Senate bill considered earlier this year that includes a ban on abortion before most people even know they’re pregnant and imposes forced ultrasounds — all to let politicians interfere in our decisions. The bill also includes cascading bans on abortion at almost every stage of pregnancy modeled after the extreme bill passed in Missouri last year.
These lawmakers MUST be held accountable for their votes. Chip in $15 to fight back against cruel attacks on abortion access like Tennessee's mega-ban and replace anti-choice legislators with champions for reproductive freedom »
Make no mistake, this is a comprehensive assault on the fundamental rights of women and families — and it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the anti-choice movement will take any opportunity they have to attack reproductive freedom — even during a global crisis.
It’s the worst kind of hypocrisy.
Donate $15 now to fuel the fight against radical anti-choice lawmakers in Tennessee and states around the country to STOP THE BANS and expand reproductive freedom!
