This is Mark Finchem, your newly elected Arizona State Senator. I’ve been in this fight for border security long before I took office, and I can tell you one thing:
I’m not interested in doing the work for just two years. I’m here to get results that actually matter, not to play political games with your tax dollars.
Right now, we’re seeing Democrats in power, like Governor Katie Hobbs, wasting taxpayer money on border task forces that don’t even make sense.
Now Hobbs has proposed a $28 million initiative called Operation Desert Guardian, a supposed solution to border crime that completely ignores what is already working and what is already in place.
It’s just more government waste that puts more officers in meetings, not on the streets where they are needed. In fact, two Sheriffs - the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, and Santa Cruz County Sheriff David Hathaway have flat-out said they don’t need it. They already have enough on their plates, and they’re not going to waste their time on a half-baked task force designed for political purposes, not public safety.
