Donald Trump and his allies have proposed a federal budget that would slash more than $250 million in grants to Arizona’s universities and research institutions.

If they succeed in making these cuts, vital research could grind to a halt. These cuts would stop researchers from working on treatments for Alzheimer’s, asthma, opioid addiction, and hearing loss. Scientists improving brain scanning technology and working on cancer prevention could lose funding.
