In firefighting, when we pull up on a scene of a house on fire, we don’t ask who they voted for—we just put out the fire. As a fire captain and labor leader, I worked with both parties to protect rights and save lives. It’s common sense.
So, when I see Trump’s White House merely suggest seeking retribution for his political rivals instead of getting to work on the things he was elected to do, like lowering the costs of groceries and healthcare, I can’t sit back and let the fire spread.
I will work with whoever, whenever, wherever, to fix our community’s greatest problems. This isn’t about being a Democrat or a Republican—hardworking families are being screwed over by chaos and gridlock in Washington. We need a practical problem solver who can understand both sides and bring people together with real solutions.
