John, Right now, a lot of folks are concerned about the state of our economy, and for good reason. In just the first few weeks of his presidency, Donald Trump threatened to freeze funding for numerous federal programs Marylanders rely on, laid off thousands of federal workers, and announced arbitrary tariffs that will raise the prices of groceries and other goods essential to our daily lives. It’s senseless chaos, and it’s the complete opposite of what voters were hoping for. I won’t let myself rest when families are in need, John. That’s why I’m countering the Trump administration’s attacks against our economy by introducing initiatives that support displaced federal workers, promote small businesses, and deliver much-needed financial relief for Marylanders. One example of this ongoing effort is our new tax reform plan. Under our current laws, Maryland’s tax system isn’t fair. To address this issue, we’ve put together a tax reform plan that will make taxes simpler, fairer, and pro-growth — all without raising sales or property taxes by a single penny for the third year in a row. Under this plan, two-thirds of Marylanders will get a tax cut. We’re also expanding access to the Child Tax Credit, which supports middle-class families and lifts children out of poverty.
We can’t just accept the destruction coming from the White House — we must stand against it. That’s what I’m doing every day, and I hope you’re with me. Elevate, Wes |
