Dear John,
We wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work done by our Pennsylvania team — Kathy, Abby, Stessa and Jesse — who organized a fantastic meet-and-greet in Delaware County on March 1st. Their event was a testament to the power of bringing people together to share ideas, find community, and get inspired to take action .
Key Takeaways from the Event:
- People want to connect! Attendees appreciated the chance to talk, share ideas, and feel less alone in this moment. Many were eager to find ways to stay engaged.
- Information infrastructure matters. The GOP has a well-established system for spreading their message — pro-democracy forces need to build our own.
- Local elections matter. There was strong interest in ensuring that local judges with integrity are elected, particularly in the family law space.
- Targeted messaging is key. Attendees saw the need for more microtargeting of ads to amplify the pro-democracy message.
- Disheartening stories of fractured relationships due to the mistrust sown by Trump and the GOP. As a non-partisan organization, we can shine by re-inspiring trust and reminding people that bad-faith politicians are the real enemy, not each other.
- Casual works. A less formal, community-building format was well received, with people preferring a conversational atmosphere over a structured program.
- Action inspires action. Two attendees made a new connection at the event that led them to protest together outside Sen. Dave McCormick’s office the next day!
- Meet-ups in rural areas are just as important as those in urban areas. Pro-democracy folks exist everywhere, and we should be intentional about reaching them.
