Welcome to our Team Tillis newsletter, where we discuss what Thom has been up to from the campaign trail to Capitol Hill, and everything in between! |
| |
Friend, This week in Washington, we heard firsthand how President Trump is delivering real results for the American people. From historic investments in U.S. manufacturing to rooting out bureaucratic waste, the new administration is in overdrive to ensure promises made are promises kept. Thom continues to work closely with his Senate colleagues to ensure the President’s cabinet is confirmed, enabling them to begin the important work of securing the America First agenda. As everything falls into place, the contrast between Republican leadership and Democrats’ four years of failures couldn’t be more clear—but this is a good time to mention that holding our Senate majority in 2026 will be crucial. Thom is already gearing up to fight for his seat, and we hope you’ll join us as we work to restore common sense in Washington. Stay tuned for more updates! -Team Tillis |
Cabinet Confirmations: Linda McMahon Confirmed as Secretary of Education
|
This week, Thom and his colleagues confirmed another member of President Trump’s cabinet: Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. She will play an important role in advancing an education model that will put schools back under state control and enable parents to make the best decisions for their children through school choice programs. Next up: Lori Chavez-DeRemer for the Labor Department and Elise Stefanik to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. After these confirmations, President Trump’s cabinet is complete! This has all happened in record time, thanks to Thom’s steady and unwavering support. Democrats didn’t make it easy, but Thom promised early on that he’d see the confirmation process through to the very end—and that’s exactly what he’s on track to do. → Read more: How each Senator has voted on Trump’s nominees so far (New York Times) |

Legislative Highlights: Senator Tillis Leads Legislation to Eliminate Biden’s “Pill Penalty”
|
For patients battling cancer, rare diseases, and chronic conditions, access to innovative treatment can mean the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act has disincentivized research on small molecule treatments, undermining development of the most accessible and affordable medications. Knowing this, Thom worked with several of his Republican colleagues to introduce the Ensuring Pathways to Innovative Cures (EPIC) Act. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation fixes the Inflation Reduction Act’s “pill penalty” to ensure continued research and development investments into small molecule medicines. The EPIC Act of 2025 will ensure patients have uninterrupted access to life-saving and life-changing therapies.

Home At Last: Senators Tillis and Budd Meet with North Carolina Native who was Held Captive by Hamas
|
This week, Thom and Senator Ted Budd met with Keith and Aviva Siegel, who were held hostage by Hamas. Keith, an American Israeli, is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The meeting allowed the couple to share their stories of unimaginable pain and evil at the hands of Hamas. As Thom said on X, “Their bravery and resilience serve as a powerful example for us all. The U.S. must take decisive action to ensure the safe return of all Americans and eliminate Hamas once and for all.” While we celebrate the release of Keith and Aviva, we cannot forget about the remaining hostages. Thom continues to advocate for vigilance as President Trump works with Israel to bring every remaining hostage home. → Learn more: Keith Samuel Siegel released by Hamas (The Carolina Journal)
