Hi John.

It’s been a busy time in Kansas and in our nation’s capital over the past several weeks.

I know people have differing views about the new administration. Many are very pleased, while many others are seriously concerned.

My job is to serve every person and corner of our community to the best of my ability, and regardless of party. So whether we agree on everything or not, today I wanted to take stock and share an update on how I'm serving you.

Securing Bipartisan Results

I was in Olathe recently to get an update from Olathe Mayor Bacon and city officials on newly secured federal resources for their railroad crossing improvement study. I am glad to support this project to help alleviate crosstown traffic in the community.

I'll be upfront with you. I have serious disagreements with the new administration and the U.S. House majority. That said, they were duly chosen by the people, just like I was. If our democracy is going to work, I think it's important to find common ground whenever possible.

I’ll work with anyone when it will help Kansas and I’ll stand up to anyone when it won't.

Honoring the Victims of Flight 5342. I joined my Kansas colleagues on the U.S. House floor to commemorate the 67 lives lost in the crash of American Airlines Flight 5342, which was traveling from Wichita and collided with a UH-60 Army Black Hawk helicopter. I'm committed to investigating this incident in a bipartisan way to protect the flying public.

Bipartisan Action to Help Veteran Small Business Owners. My bipartisan bill to help veteran small business owners passed the House. It identifies the challenges veterans face and improves access to existing programs so they can grow their businesses and create jobs.

Stopping Fentanyl and Protecting our Families. I recently voted to pass the bipartisan HALT Fentanyl Act. The bill would further restrict access to fentanyl and provide more resources to local law enforcement to combat its use in Kansas.

Standing up for Hardworking Kansans and American Values

As a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, I’m committed to protecting Kansas producers from tariffs that increase prices for farmers and families at the grocery store.

At the same time, I will never compromise on our values. I vehemently disagree with many of President Trump's actions, which include granting an unelected billionaire access to your private data and recklessly gutting investments that make our economy better for hardworking Kansans.

As a coequal branch of government, it’s Congress’ job to serve as a check on the executive branch.

Protecting Kansas Farmers. The President's new reckless tariffs pose great risks to Kansas agriculture. That’s why I was honored to have Kansas Farm Bureau President Joe Newland as my guest to the President's address to congress earlier this week as an opportunity to push back against these higher costs and uncertainty for our economy.

Standing up for Health Care. Both parties should find ways to cut waste. But the house’s new partisan budget plan would devastate KanCare. It means cutting children, seniors, and hardworking people off from their health care to pay for a huge tax giveaway to billionaires.

Defending Services for Kansans. It's important to make our government as efficient as possible. But mass firings of public servants have real consequences for people. It means less support for veterans' health care, delayed tax refunds, and undermines flight safety.

My job is to serve you, regardless of party. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not for special interests, billionaires, or big corporations. I will continue to do everything I can to serve our entire district to the best of my ability.

It's an honor to serve you and your family in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you have any questions, please let me know.

My warmest regards,
