# [#]March is Women’s History Month and today is International Women’s Day, and women’s rights are under attack more than ever.

Dr. Maggie Carpenter, a New York physician, should have been my guest at the Joint Address earlier this week, but couldn’t attend because she can’t leave the state of New York. Why? Because she is facing criminal charges in Louisiana for prescribing the abortion medication, Mifepristone, via telemedicine.

This attempt to prosecute medical professionals for putting their patients first is inexcusable. It’s an attack on women’s health across the country and puts lives at risk.

As a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and as a leader in Congress, I will continue to fight to protect abortion access and defend medical professionals like Dr. Carpenter.

Reproductive healthcare is a human right. We must fight back against attacks on reproductive freedoms at the federal level. Add your name if you agree that medical professionals should not be prohibited from doing their job. [[link removed]]ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]

Dr. Carpenter is thankfully protected by New York's shield laws, but that simply is not enough. Medical professionals should not live in fear for simply fulfilling their oath. She is unable to leave her home state without risk of being prosecuted by Louisiana.

I was honored to speak to Dr. Carpenter about my commitment to protect reproductive healthcare, defend medical professionals, and stop attacks on reproductive freedom.

Republicans are fighting for a federal abortion ban that is an attack on our fundamental freedoms. Medical decisions belong in clinics, not courtrooms and we can’t allow these rights to continue to be stripped away.

Will you stand with me in my efforts to protect reproductive freedom? Add your name to join me in demanding that Republicans end their attacks against medical professionals. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Jerry
