Diversity has always been one of the greatest strengths of our union. One reason AFSCME members have been such effective advocates for ourselves, our workplaces, and our values is that women have played a central role in our union from the very beginning.
AFSCME is a union of people in public service, and women have always played an outsized role in public service work. AFSCME women work in every job sector represented by our union, from nurses and school bus drivers to road crews and corrections officers — and everything in between.
