For the last several months, every week has felt like a long week. Every day, a long day.
The runup to the election was stressful and difficult as we tracked and fought against Republican disinformation, voter suppression and election subversion.
After Donald Trump won, I pivoted to laying out, as clearly as possible, what a new opposition movement should look like — speaking out, taking action and refusing to bow down.
When Trump was sworn in, he flooded the zone with illegal and unconstitutional acts. The response has been a torrent of pro-democracy litigation.
Back in January, I predicted we would see political retribution. That prediction has now become reality.
I am not backing down. I will never bend a knee. I will always speak out.
But right now, I must confess, I am tired. So, this will be a shorter note than I usually send on Saturdays. I hope you don’t mind.
Thank you to everyone who has offered their support and kind words. Thank you to the lawyers, activists and Democrats who continue to fight for democracy in court, in public and in the halls of power.
I will be back with more next week. For now, I leave you with several articles that prove that as a movement, when we fight, we win!
