This International Women’s Day, we're sharing the remarkable story of twin sisters Chhaya and Chhavi, who are breaking gender barriers by saving sight and paving paths for girls in India.

In rural areas like Bihar, India where they grew up, girls are not given the same educational or professional opportunities as boys. But with the help of Orbis donors, these sisters were given a remarkable chance.

Chhaya and Chhavi joined the Orbis-supported ophthalmic training program at Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital that ultimately led them to become optometrists—reaching their potential, defying stereotypes, and acting as a force for good in their communities.
