Water Drop
Love over hate always.
On this past month’s Water Drop, we witnessed the harsh reality of our mission. While out at our water drop sites, providing life-saving supplies—water, food, clothing, electrolytes, and more—our crates labeled humanitarian aid were found destroyed, defaced with anti-immigrant messages, and crushed by a massive rock.

Though it’s disheartening to see hate and ignorance try to silence us, it will not deter our commitment to compassion, kindness, and support for those who need it most. Our volunteers and safety monitors will continue to serve with love and unwavering dedication. Every act of cruelty only strengthens our resolve to be a beacon of hope in these challenging times.

We thank our brave and dedicated volunteers, as this work is more important than ever, and together, we will not back down. Love over hate, always.

Familias Reunidas Bond Program
 Meet Javier!
Meet our latest bond recipient, Javier! He is an asylum seeker from Venezuela. As you can see in his photo, he’s overjoyed to be reunited with his loved ones after being detained at the Golden State Modified Community Correctional Facility in McFarland, California, for seven months. This is our first bond posting from that facility, and it’s a testament to the power of community support!

Javier’s family and a circle of incredible supporters came together to raise the $8k needed for his release. The bond was a collaborative effort from the Orange County Justice Fund, Pastor Allison and her church, JISA, Border Angels and his family.

This bond represents hope, solidarity, and the strength of a community that refuses to let anyone face injustice alone. Javier is now free, and we couldn’t be happier for him and his family!

Fashion with a cause.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Nathalie Ramirez, a talented first-generation fashion student at Cal Poly Pomona, for her incredible support. Nathalie reached out to us through Instagram and created a powerful garment focused on I.C.E. resistance, using fashion as a tool for social change. Not only was the piece designed and produced in-house in a fair-trade style, but Nathalie also donated a portion of the profits to our asylum funds, helping us give back to the community. Your creativity, dedication, and generosity mean the world to us, Nathalie—thank you for making a difference!

News Spotlight:

Records show San Diego Sheriff might have violated sanctuary lawSan Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez might have violated a state sanctuary law by transferring an inmate in the local jail system to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to immigration lawyers who reviewed a report from the Sheriff’s Office.

Under SB 54, known as the Values Act, local jails can transfer inmates to ICE only if those individuals have been convicted of certain felonies in the last 15 years or certain misdemeanors in the last five.

The law requires law enforcement agencies that transfer people to ICE to publish annual reports, which is where advocates found the questionable transfer.
