Hi John, Finally, some good news: Yesterday, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland) and Senator Christopher Cabaldon (D-Yolo) introduced Assembly Bill 736 and Senate Bill 417, legislation that would place a bond measure on the June 2026 ballot to provide $10 billion to California’s affordable housing programs. The twin proposals show that California is doubling down to offer a safe, affordable, and welcoming future for all our neighbors. Having a stable, affordable place to call home is voters' number one concern, as well as one of the most foundational policy choices we can make to set our communities up for success. This proposal, which would be the largest statewide bond to-date, is a critical step in aligning our policy planning with Californians' values and our communities' needs. |
