Friends,

I want to share an update on recent work in California and Washington, D.C.

In January, Southern California experienced devastating wildfires. I visited the Palisades with President Trump and toured the Eaton fire in Altadena with CalFire to understand the needs and challenges ahead. This is no time for inaction.

In response, I introduced the Green Tape Elimination Act (GTEA).  It will eliminate burdensome regulation that is harming our ability to fight serious brushfires or prepare for the blazes that we know will occur in the future.

This follows my Direct Hire to Fight Fire legislation to streamline the federal hiring process to fill federal firefighting positions quickly.

Also, I spoke about the importance of eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in federal agencies including USAID.

Finally, I reintroduced legislation to enhance transparency in third-party financed civil litigation.

Lastly, if you’re in the Borrego Springs area,  my casework team will be holding mobile office hours February 25. Appointments are not required. With questions, please contact my office at 760-304-7575.

As always, it is an honor to serve as your representative in Congress. For more information, please visit www.issa.house.gov.

Respectfully,
