Friend – Control of the U.S. Senate may come down to Democrats winning North Carolina. I have a few critical updates to share about this race, and I hope you’ll take a few moments to read them – and then support Cal Cunningham (D), a U.S. Army veteran, business leader, and fierce advocate for our progressive values who’s running to flip this seat blue.
I'll start with the good news: Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight just ranked Cal's race as a toss-up, and the polls show him surging against Republican incumbent, Thom Tillis – giving Democrats a real opportunity to take this seat and take back the Senate.
But here's the bad news: The Republican incumbent has a 2-to-1 cash advantage, and Mitch McConnell's super PAC has already dumped $22 million into North Carolina to defeat Cal, putting this race on track to be the most expensive in the country.
If Cal is going to make this seat blue and take back the Senate for Democrats, he must close his $20,000 fundraising gap before midnight tonight – and he can't do it without the urgent grassroots support of people like you:
Since the beginning of his career, Cal has been a committed public servant – from fighting to lower healthcare costs and improve our public education system to volunteering to protect our country in the Army following the attacks on Sept. 11.
