Trump has proven once again that he stands not with democracy, but with authoritarianism.
Trump just blamed Ukraine for Russia’s invasion, called Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, an “unelected dictator,” and suggested that Ukraine should not be involved in peace negotiations with Russia.
These comments are outrageously false and come just days after Trump suggested that Russia keep Ukrainian land because they “won” it.
Trump has fully embraced fascism and Russia’s anti-democracy aggression.
This is a betrayal of everything America stands for — freedom, democracy, and standing by our allies, and we cannot sit back and watch.
I stood up to Trump in 2019 when he called President Zelenskyy and threatened to withhold military aid unless he investigated Trump’s then-political rival, President Biden. As a member of Congress, I will do everything I can to continue holding him accountable.
We must take action now. Trump and his extremist allies are testing the waters for how much they can get away with. We cannot let them win.
