Dear John,

House Republicans just released their budget plan and it is outrageous. The GOP budget would cut $880 billion from Medicaid—gutting health care for Alabama children, seniors, and families.

Meanwhile, their budget would give a $2 trillion tax break to big corporations and the very wealthy.

Here is what House Republicans' budget would mean for Alabama's 7th Congressional District:

  • 88,789 local children would risk losing health care coverage.
  • 13,448 local seniors would risk losing health care coverage.
  • Health care premiums under the ACA would increase by $510 per year—a 66% spike.
  • 65,168 people would risk losing SNAP food assistance.

John, that is simply unacceptable. Congress shouldn't be defunding the services that Alabamians rely on while giving tax breaks to billionaires.
