It's official: Trump's Administration is using the Department of Education to target LGBTQ+-friendly school districts. And their current target? Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties in Virginia, which have been placed under federal investigation for policies that protect trans students. In Fairfax County, three out LGBTQ+ leaders (all former Victory Fund candidates!) currently serve on the school board: School Board Chair Karl Frisch, Robyn Lady and Kyle McDaniel. The Fairfax County School Board passed a sweeping slate of pro-equality reforms, ensuring transgender and other gender-expansive or non-binary students have the support and resources they need to thrive in school.

Karl led the charge to ensure LGBTQ+ students are safe to learn in Virginia's largest school system. He spearheaded several equality initiatives, including making robust regulations to protect trans and non-binary students. And because of his hard work, the Trump Administration is targeting them!

Their work to protect LGBTQ+ students and staff in the face of bigotry and hate should be celebrated, not prosecuted. As out leaders on the school board, they're working everyday to ensure that LGBTQ+ people are seen, valued and protected. Their hard work shows the value of Victory Fund's mission and our fight to elect LGBTQ+ candidates who will stand in defense of our community.
