Looking out for our children’s future by investing in their education should not be a partisan issue. Yet Donald Trump and co-president Elon Musk have set their sights on gutting the Department of Education, an act that would slash millions of dollars of funding from our nation’s school systems.

This is a frightening abuse of power. If Trump and Musk get away with this, our nation’s low-income communities will struggle to keep their schools running without federal funding. Students with disabilities will not be able to get the support they need. Teachers who are already underpaid suffer even more.

As a mom, the Trump Administration’s attacks on education are personal to me. Like so many of you who have kids and grandkids, I can’t stop worrying about the future of my daughters’ education if Trump and Musk get their way.
