1) Trump Wants His Tax Cuts Now
President Trump must be reading the HOTLINE, because he has adopted our line by telling Congress: pass the tax bill NOW. Yesterday, Trump wisely weighed in strongly in favor of the House budget, which immediately extends the Trump tax cuts versus the flawed Senate strategy of doing a no-tax-cuts budget now and a tax bill at some unknown date in the future:

This one beautiful bill makes the most sense to us. Charge forward now with Trump’s highest national priority: extend the tax cuts so they don’t expire at the end of the year. Why wait?

2) The Laffer Curve in Action
Here is a chart from UP co-founder Art Laffer that should open the eyes of some of the Republicans dragging their feet on making the Trump tax cuts permanent over deficit concerns. The chart shows that prior to Covid the economy burst with growth. Receipts rose to their highest level EVER:
How did this happen? Through the magic of economic growth:

3) Where Have All the Children Gone? To Red Counties
Yet another daunting problem for Blue America is that the residents are not having children and the older generation is dying off. If these trends continue, there will be 300 people left in the entire state of New Jersey by the end of the century. (Just kidding).
An analysis by Grant Bailey and Lyman Stone of the Institute for Family Studies ([link removed]) indicates a strong relationship between higher total fertility rates (total babies born to females over their reproductive years) and Republican presidential election voting in 2024 at the county level.
[link removed]
All counties with more than 100,000 residents were included in the analysis. The researchers concluded:
This relationship between voting Republican and having more babies is growing stronger over time. In 2012, a 10% increase in votes for Romney within a county saw an expected increase of 0.05 in the total fertility rate, compared to 0.09 in 2024. In the past 12 years, the geographic relationship between voting Republican and having more babies has grown by 85 percent...
We get a clear picture of the fertility gap when we divide counties into five groups with equal population along partisan lines. The 20% most Republican counties have an aggregate total fertility rate of 1.76. The 20% most Democratic counties have an aggregate total fertility rate of 1.37, less than the EU.
Even though the run-up in egg prices happening now is obviously driven by the supply shock of bird flu, Liberals have settled on the flimsy talking point that expensive eggs are Trump's fault.
But not only is the media frenzy wildly out of proportion with how they covered the last big run-up in prices but as a hit on Trump, it suffers from a severe flaw: almost all of the increase happened while the Biden administration was still in power.

So much for the idea that Democrats care about "the children." If they cared so much, they'd start having them.

4) California Now Wants to Take Over the Oil Refineries
California is one of the most oil and gas-rich places in the world. But the hostility of its state government is literally driving local producers to leave. Chevron is leaving the state where it was founded 145 years ago and moving to Texas. Phillips 66 is closing its oil refineries in the state later this year. Valero may follow suit.
The departures accelerated after Gov. Gavin Newsom effectively declared war on "Big Oil" when he established a new watchdog that has the power to penalize oil refiners that charge "too much" for gasoline. He promised to "hold Big Oil accountable for fleecing Californians at the pump..."
But voters may hold Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential candidate, and his fellow Democrats accountable if more of the state's remaining eight refineries close. Nervous legislators are proposing the state take ownership of one or more refineries to avoid severe supply chain shortages.

This may be one of the dumbest ideas we’ve heard in a long time. Are government bureaucrats and regulators going to run the oil industry, an industry they hate?
California is going to run out of energy even though they have an abundance of it. Gavin Newsom for president, anyone?

5) The School Choice Moment Has Arrived
Trump has wisely promised to direct federal education dollars to states with school choice programs so that the money goes to the parents and the kids, not the education blob.
This has inspired states to expand their education freedom programs within the next week. Our friends at ALEC report that we have four red states with major school choice legislation ready to move. They are Wyoming, Idaho, South Carolina, and the big enchilada - Texas.
The Texas program is more than $1 billion and offers kids like these up to $10,000 tuition assistance:

If these four states succeed, it could mean expanded education options for roughly six million kids. Most of these kids helped will be lower-income minorities.
Free. Free at last.
