Day One. Inflation will be fixed and prices will go down for working families on day one.

That’s the promise Trump made to the American people when he was campaigning for president. I can’t say I’m shocked that he lied. Not only has inflation gone up since his time in office, but now he’s backtracking on his promise — acknowledging that fighting inflation will take time.

Economists warned us for months that Trump’s tariff proposals would make costs go up for the middle class. It’s been a whole month and nothing has gotten better. Egg prices aren’t down, gas prices aren’t down, and a trade war looms over our country like a dark cloud.

I’m doing my best to make sure Michiganders don’t feel the weight of this inflation, and will continue to use my position in Congress to push back on GOP policies that have gotten us here.
