Over the last few weeks we’ve had a front row seat to a second Trump presidency. He’s dismantling programs and institutions designed to protect and support American families and workers. He’s granting unelected bureaucrats like Elon Musk dangerous power and unchecked access to our personal information. He’s playing Russian roulette with foreign policy and making targets of his political foes.

In other words, he’s doing exactly what he said he was going to do.

We must rise above hopelessness in this moment. We must rise above the division and chaos and do everything in our power to fight for America’s future.

I urge my fellow lawmakers, regardless of party affiliation, to put the wellbeing of hardworking American families over fealty. This will be a defining moment in our Nation’s history, and we need to show up for it.
