John,
Too many elected officials today lack the urgency of the moment. This is because many are millionaires who don’t understand the urgent needs of their constituents. But it’s not too late to change course and elect future leaders who represent the needs of working people.
After November’s election, applications surged for this winter’s free Rooted in Community Campaign School, where we train working-class candidates―with a focus on women and people of color―to run for office.
To meet the demand, we expanded our Campaign School to support the most candidates we’ve ever trained. This winter’s cohort is 67% women, 10% Gen Z, 53% Black, 21% white, 10.5% Arab, 10.5% Asian, and 5% Hispanic.
We’re halfway through this winter’s training sessions. Up next, we’ll train our future candidates on how to recruit volunteers and how to reach infrequent voters and vote-by-mail voters. We’ll also train folks on issues ranging from environmental justice to investing in our communities, not corporations and billionaires.
Will you chip in today to support this free 5-week training for working-class candidates who are ready to make sure our government serves the people, not billionaires?

At this moment, when we are all concerned about a tyrannical president dismantling our institutions and cutting the services our communities rely on, this is an important way you can fight back. Together we will keep building and demanding a government that invests in people’s needs.
Thank you for standing with me and our future leaders today.

John,
Everyday people are looking for ways to fight back against this tyrannical administration. One way to fight back is by supporting progressive candidates who want our government to work for the people, not for billionaires.
Right now, we’re in the midst of training our largest-ever cohort of future candidates for local and state office.
We created our Rooted in Community Campaign School to train working people from diverse backgrounds how to run for office. Because it can be expensive to run an electoral campaign and difficult to do while working, many people who decide to run are wealthy. Most of my colleagues in Congress are millionaires, which means they don’t understand the urgent needs of our communities. So we run free training programs for regular people who want to be public servants so they can give back to their communities.
Among this winter’s cohort of future candidates, 67% are women and 53% are Black, 21% are white, 10.5% are Arab, 10.5% are Asian, and 5% are Hispanic. So far, we’ve held sessions on running a campaign based on progressive values, how to file the necessary paperwork to run for office, fundraising and campaign finance, issue-based messaging and communications, and ending state violence and investing in communities. Our next session will cover field programs and working with volunteers to contact voters.
At this moment when we’re seeing an authoritarian president tear our Constitution to shreds, I am energized and encouraged to see a powerful group of working-class candidates ready to run for office and take our government back.
Power our Rooted in Community Campaign School with a donation of $5 today to fight back against the dictator-in-chief with candidates who understand and represent our communities’ needs rather than billionaires.

Together, we will never stop fighting for the promise of a multiracial democracy that is of, by, and for the people, not the billionaires.
In solidarity,
Rashida
