On Tuesday, I joined my colleagues in Congress and attended President Trumps first joint address as the 47th President. Watch above to hear my reaction!

Defending House Decorum
|
On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed my resolution to censure Representative Al Green from Texas after his actions during President Trump’s Joint Address.
The sheer disregard for decorum during the President’s address from my colleague is unacceptable. We can and must do better, and it is critical that we reprimand this behavior and restore respect for the institution, each other, and the people that sent us here to work for them.
My resolution passed with a bipartisan vote of 224-198-2.

Advocating Common Sense Reforms to the ESA |
|
This week I participated in the House Natural Resources Oversight and Investigations subcommittee hearing.
My colleagues and I heard from ranchers from across the nation, including a representative from Washington States cattleman's association, to discuss some of the consequences they have faced from experimental populations under the Endangered Species Act.
It is no question the ESA has been exploited over the years and has impacted Central Washington with the introduction of gray wolves and potential introduction of grizzly bears to the North Cascades ecosystem. The past administration ignored public concerns and disregarded the potential havoc on our farms and ranches.
It is past time to delist these populations and put our rural communities first. My priority is keeping these apex predators out of our backyards.

Talking Water Development with the Columbia Basin Development League
|

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with members of the Columbia Basin Development League to discuss their ongoing efforts to bring more reliable and efficient irrigation to our communities.
The League's advocacy has led to water access for over 700,000 acres of Central Washington, and I look forward to working with them to finish the project. |
Hearing Farm Bill Priorities from Fellow Hop Growers |
|
On Thursday, some fellow hop growers and I had a great discussion about the importance of a Farm Bill to address the worsening conditions our farmers are facing like high input costs and low returns.
We were fortunate that Chairman Glenn Thompson of the House Agriculture Committee "hopped" into our conversation to hear from them firsthand!
My colleagues and I on the Agriculture Committee are working hard for a comprehensive Farm Bill that promotes the success of our nation's agricultural industry.

Credit Unions Advocating a Strong Financial Future |
|
This week I welcomed representatives from credit unions across Washington state to hear some of their policy priorities in Congress for 2025.
Credit unions are essential to local economies and are a vital component in the communities they serve like ours in Central Washington. I look forward to supporting their efforts to secure a stronger financial future for our state.

County Leaders Come to D.C. |
|
On Tuesday, I met with local county leaders from Washington state to discuss how we can work together to strengthen our communities.
County leaders work hard to see that our region thrives, and the work we do together is critical in ensuring the next generation inherits communities in better shape than we found them. |
Wiping Away the Tears with Local Onion Producers |
|
This week, I heard from onion producers about some of the challenges they are seeing on, and in the ground.
We spoke about everything going on in Congress to produce an updated and improved Farm Workforce Modernization Act and a strong Farm Bill.
I am committed to continuing to advocate for Central Washington’s producers and am excited to start delivering results for our hardworking farmers. |
Supporting our Local Letter Carriers |
|
On Thursday I had the pleasure of sitting down with TJ Davis, one of Yakima's very own letter carriers.
We discussed the importance of mail carriers and the vital role they play in our communities. I commend TJ and all our district letter carriers for all of their hard work and remain a staunch supporter of their services! |
Protecting Public Broadcasting |
|
This week I met with Washington broadcasters to talk about the importance of AM radio and local journalism in rural communities.
For many rural communities like ours in Central Washington, AM radio and local media is how thousands of people receive important information and updates.
Accessible press for all citizens in our country is vital, I look forward to supporting their ongoing efforts! |
