Good news: yesterday, the House Financial Services Committee passed my bipartisan bill to support Taiwan's rightful place in the IMF! We cannot allow the Chinese Communist Party to silence Taiwan’s needed voice in global financial decisions.

I was honored to bring San Bernardino County Fire Dan Munsey to this week's joint address.
His insight is critical as I work to support first responders through bills like the ROUTES Act to reopen federal roads after wildfires and the DEMO Act to expand access to emerging tech.

The CCP has demonstrated time and time again a willingness to conduct disruptive cyber-attacks on our infrastructure. We must work with our Allies to strengthen our critical infrastructure and reduce our supply chain vulnerabilities that are exploited by entities like the CCP and the Salt Typhoon. 

As International Women's Day approaches, I'm honored to receive CARE's Global Hope Award for my work in Congress to support targeted, evidence-based global health initiatives that uplift women and girls around the world. The success of women and girls is the world's gain.

It was incredible to have San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey as my guest for President Trump's joint address to Congress. His insight has been critical as I work on policies to deploy wildfire technologies and ensure first responders have the latest tools to do their jobs.

Japan is an important ally of the United States and partner in maintaining a free and open East Asia and Pacific region. I appreciate the Japanese Embassy's Congressional Minister Ken Ono stopping by and look forward to working together to strengthen our economic and security partnership.

During this week's House Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing, I questioned the efficacy of allowing Turkey, a UN Member, to seek a membership in BRICS – which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. and our allies must stand united in holding a strong line against our advisaries.

The Municipal Water District of Orange County serves nearly 3.2 million Orange County residents through 27 retail water agencies. I thank their team for stopping by to discuss upcoming projects and priorities and appreciate their hard work to provide water to OC residents.

Are you traveling planning travel for this year? Stop what you’re doing and check your passport!  


Processing times are now 4-6 weeks (routine) or 2-3 weeks (expedited, not incl. shipping). Start your renewal or application at travel.state.gov/passport.

Passport processing times are the fastest they’ve been since March 2020. Take advantage and apply or renew now so that you’re ready for international travel in the new year. 

Travel Tip -- Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months after your departure. Look up your destination’s entry requirements at travel.state.gov/destination and check your passport expiration date before booking flights.

Travelers are encouraged to wait to book international travel until a valid passport is physically in hand, apply for a new or renewed passport 9 months prior to travel, and ensure that their passport doesn’t expire within 6 months of their international travel dates.

If your pending application was filed with routine service and you have upcoming travel, you may benefit from upgrading to expedited service. Please dial (877) 487-2778 to upgrade to expedited service and shipping.

The Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution as tensions around the world increase the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution. 

U.S. citizens should:

• Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.
• Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
• Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter and visit travel.state.gov.

If you are traveling abroad or are abroad please check the destination warning levels travel.state.gov, and be sure to register for the STEP program even if you are abroad.
