On Monday, we confirmed Linda McMahon to be Secretary of Education. As I have stated in the past, Linda’s commitment to making education as local as possible is essential to students across America. Thankfully, the Trump administration also agrees that PARENTS are the best decision makers for their children’s education—not the federal government. Senate Republicans are now 21-0 on confirmations. We only have two cabinet-level nominees left to confirm! Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Secretary of Labor, and lastly, Elise Stefanik for Ambassador to the United Nations. We’re moving at a record pace not seen since President George W. Bush's first term!

Tuesday night was one for the history books. Christie and I were honored to be in attendance as President Donald Trump delivered a powerful Joint Address to Congress. Normally, newly elected leaders use this time to outline their plans for the country. In this case, President Trump already had six weeks of huge wins to share with the American people from his first 43 days in office. President Trump spoke for two hours on a range of issues, including how he’s already slashing burdensome regulations to lower costs, securing the border, and restoring peace through strength to keep Americans safe.
While Republicans stood and cheered, Democrats sat on their hands no matter the remark. Border crossings at an all-time low? Sit down. Stopping countries from taking advantage of us in trade? Sit down. Efforts to stop fentanyl trafficking? Sit down. Capturing the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan? Sit down. Highlight a steel worker whose industry is returning? Sit down. Make DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old in the audience who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018, dream to be a Secret Service Agent? Sit down. It was very clear that Democrats have no leader, no message, and no plan to do anything except oppose everything President Trump supports.
Back in 1979, when the Department of Education was created, we ranked #1 in math in the world. Flash forward to today, we're not #1 in anything. We've fallen behind countless other countries. What happened? We did the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That's called insanity. It's time to restructure or dismantle it.
