Oklahoma,

On Tuesday night, President Trump offered a powerful Joint Address the Congress that reminded us why we all voted for him in the first place! It was a very busy week for us, as Senate Republicans are communicating with the White House 24/7 on how best to deliver our campaign promises to secure the border, lower costs, and get the government working for the people again.

On Monday, we confirmed Linda McMahon to be Secretary of Education. As I have stated in the past, Linda’s commitment to making education as local as possible is essential to students across America. Thankfully, the Trump administration also agrees that PARENTS are the best decision makers for their children’s education—not the federal government. Senate Republicans are now 21-0 on confirmations. We only have two cabinet-level nominees left to confirm! Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Secretary of Labor, and lastly, Elise Stefanik for Ambassador to the United Nations. We’re moving at a record pace not seen since President George W. Bush's first term!

Tuesday night was one for the history books. Christie and I were honored to be in attendance as President Donald Trump delivered a powerful Joint Address to Congress. Normally, newly elected leaders use this time to outline their plans for the country. In this case, President Trump already had six weeks of huge wins to share with the American people from his first 43 days in office. President Trump spoke for two hours on a range of issues, including how he’s already slashing burdensome regulations to lower costs, securing the border, and restoring peace through strength to keep Americans safe.

While Republicans stood and cheered, Democrats sat on their hands no matter the remark. Border crossings at an all-time low? Sit down. Stopping countries from taking advantage of us in trade? Sit down. Efforts to stop fentanyl trafficking? Sit down. Capturing the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan? Sit down. Highlight a steel worker whose industry is returning? Sit down. Make DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old in the audience who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018, dream to be a Secret Service Agent? Sit down. It was very clear that Democrats have no leader, no message, and no plan to do anything except oppose everything President Trump supports.

Back in 1979, when the Department of Education was created, we ranked #1 in math in the world. Flash forward to today, we're not #1 in anything. We've fallen behind countless other countries. What happened? We did the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. That's called insanity. It's time to restructure or dismantle it.

On Monday, the Senate voted on the Protection of Women and Girl's in Sports Act. Should be commonsense right? Apparently not for my Senate Democrat colleagues. All 45 Democrats voted NO. Unfortunately, they want men competing against our daughters. Senate liberals continue to pick the wrong side of every 80/20 issue. As the father of three girls who wrestle, I'll always stand with Oklahoma's female athletes.

As I stated above, education needs to be as local as possible. When I mean local, I mean giving parents a say in their education. For far too long, our federal government has been dictating how our children learn. With no opinions from their parents, kids are being forced to sit for drag shows, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, and divisive instruction. Linda McMahon's confirmation to Secretary of Education will put a stop to this once and for all. She'll ensure we have Oklahomans, not bureaucrats, writing our lesson plans.

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to meet with the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. While we may not always agree, I deeply appreciate the local media’s service to our communities. I enjoy tuning in and staying up to date with local stories, and highlights of exceptional Oklahomans.

I want to shout out two very special Oklahomans in this week's newsletter. Somehow in a landlocked state, these two individuals made their way to the U.S. Navy. Specifically, to the Blue Angels! Congratulations to Bailey Dorr (Left) and Olivia Rauer (Right) on joining such a prestigious team. The Sooner State could not be more proud.

Right before the Joint Address, I joined Fox News’s Laura Ingraham on-set of The Ingraham Angle to preview President Trump’s speech. We discussed the importance of using the president’s peace through strength message to end the war in Ukraine, echoed the need for Elbridge Colby to serve as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and pointed out the lack of leadership in the Democratic Party.
