[ [link removed] ]Tell members of Congress: Don't hide from constituents. Host town
halls!
Dear MoveOn member,
In a few weeks, members of Congress will be in recess and back in their
districts. They should be using that time to face their constituents and
hear their concerns, frustrations, and demands. Instead, news outlets are
already reporting that Republicans are planning to go into hiding. They're
hoping to ride out the outrage sparked by their reckless and disastrous
plans to gut Medicare and Medicaid, as they continue to enable Donald
Trump and Elon Musk's efforts to steal from us to enrich themselves and
their billionaire buds.^1 Not on our watch.
We need to remind members of Congress that they answer to us. And they
can't hide from the American people.
[ [link removed] ]Add your name to the petition to demand senators and representatives
host town hall meetings or office hours during the next congressional
recess starting March 15.
Tell your members of Congress: Don't hide from us! Demand they face
constituents and host town halls when they are back in their districts
this month.

Last month, Republicans who hosted town halls in their districts were met
with a wave of backlash for their complicity in Trump and Musk's
bulldozing public services.^2 People, including MoveOn members, packed
rooms to let their elected officials know how frustrated they were with an
unelected billionaire's seizure of our government and private data, the
damage of DOGE's mass firings, and Trump's chaotic first few weeks.
Senator Roger Marshall had to end a town hall meeting in rural Kansas
early—amid boos and shouts—as constituents expressed their outrage over
funding cuts, payments to farmers, and veteran services.^3 And in Georgia,
a constituent in Representative Rich McCormick's district went viral after
she asked him directly what he was doing "to rein in the megalomaniac in
the White House."^4
Instead of answering for their actions, Republican leaders are now
reportedly telling offices to avoid public events altogether—or if they
MUST do events, host online events they can tightly control instead of
in-person events where they can actually hear from us.^5 This is the
opposite of the directions Democrats are receiving—with Minority Leader
Hakeem Jeffries encouraging all members to connect directly with
constituents, and Democratic leaders like Governor Tim Walz offering to
host town halls in the districts where Republicans are refusing.^6,7
[ [link removed] ]They can ignore one of us. But they can't ignore thousands of us. Add
your name to the petition to let members of Congress know we expect them
to host town halls during the congressional recess!
We need to remind members of Congress who it is they answer to.
Not Trump.
Not Musk.
Not a few billionaires.
They answer to us—the people they were elected to represent.

Thanks for all you do.
