California is home to the largest, most diverse immigrant population in the country. Immigrants are our family, friends, and neighbors, and should be treated with respect and dignity.

So, while Donald Trump is trying to close the border, end asylum, and deport as many people as possible, ACLU NorCal is defending immigrants' constitutional rights.

Here's what we've been up to:

* The ACLUs of California sued <[link removed]> the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Border Patrol for indiscriminately stopping, detaining, and arresting farmworkers and day laborers regardless of their immigration status during brazen raids in Kern County. This operation tore families apart, terrorized the community, and violated the Constitution.

* We sued DHS Secretary Kristi Noem <[link removed]> for revoking an extension of temporary protected status for 600,000 Venezuelans living and working in the U.S. The termination was illegal and racist.

* We've launched a monthly series of immigration webinars to update the community on the Trump administration's actions and their impacts here in California. We'll connect participants with opportunities to support policies that bolster California's ability to protect immigrants' rights. * We're producing and distributing Know Your Rights resources <[link removed]> to spread the word about what to do if ICE confronts you at home, at work, or on the street.
