Email from Rep. McCaul Trump's Joint Address: Entering the New American Golden Age On Tuesday, President Trump laid out a bold vision for America’s future—one that aligns with many priorities I have long fought for in Congress. First, I commend the president’s strong commitment to securing our southern border. The crisis at our border spiraled out of control under the Biden administration’s failed open border policies, endangering Texas communities and American lives. Thankfully, under President Trump, apprehensions at the border are down 94% from this time last year. This is what it looks like when the federal government does its job — securing our border and protecting our homeland. For years, I have pushed for real border security solutions, and I will continue working with the administration to stop the chaos and restore order. I was also proud to see the Trump administration prioritizing the health of beautiful young people like DJ Daniels — a young childhood cancer fighter who attended the speech — and advancing efforts to fight childhood cancer. This is an issue near and dear to my heart, which is why I founded the Childhood Cancer Caucus in 2009 with the mission of eradicating cancer as a threat to children. For years, I have championed increased research funding and medical innovation to help give every kid the best chance of fighting this horrific disease, and I am encouraged to see our executive branch working to help keep young people healthy and cancer-free. From national security to medical research and so much more, the issues President Trump highlighted in his speech are about protecting American lives and ensuring our country remains strong. I look forward to working with his administration to continue fighting for these critical priorities in Congress and restoring common sense to Washington! Justice for the 13 Servicemembers Killed in Biden’s Afghanistan Withdrawal During President Trump's address, he announced that Mohammad Sharifullah, the ISIS-K terrorist mastermind behind the heinous Abbey Gate bombing in August 2021, has been apprehended and extradited to the United States to face justice. This devastating attack — which took place during the Biden administration's chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan — claimed the lives of 13 brave U.S. service members and approximately 170 Afghan civilians. During my time as chairman of the foreign affairs committee, I conducted a three-year investigation into the Biden administration’s botched withdrawal — a catastrophic failure of epic proportions — and I became very close with the Gold Star families: mothers, fathers, and siblings of the 13 brave troops who died at Abbey Gate. President Biden consistently disrespected these family members, ignoring their meeting requests, checking his watch during a ceremony held in honor of the 13 fallen heroes, and refusing to ever say their names. President Trump, on the other hand, has met with them on numerous occasions and clearly listened to their pleas. Sharifullah’s capture is a huge win, not only for the Gold Star families, but for all Americans. While it can’t erase the pain of those who lost loved ones, it represents a crucial step toward providing justice and repairing America's reputation on the world stage. Ninety percent of advanced semiconductor chips are currently made in Taiwan, which presents a huge national security risk since these chips power our weapons systems and so much more. That’s why I introduced the CHIPS for America Act at the urging of President Trump’s national security team several years ago, to give companies a tax credit if they invest in semiconductor manufacturing here in America. With that incentive and the pressure of President Trump's tariffs, there's never been a better time to make chips in America. I’m thankful to have a president who prioritizes our national security, which is growing stronger each and every day! ICYMI: Rep.
