*Gov. Evers Releases Statement on New Lawsuit Suing Trump Administration for Illegally Firing Federal Workers Including Thousands of Veterans *

 

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today slammed the Trump Administration in a statement regarding a new multi-state lawsuit suing President Trump and the Trump Administration for illegally firing thousands of federal workers, including nearly 6,000 veterans [ [link removed] ]—reportedly more than any U.S. president [ [link removed] ] in American history. Gov. Evers this week blasted President Trump and the Trump Administration [ [link removed] ] for their continued attacks on veterans after new reports [ [link removed] ] indicated the administration plans to cut as many as 80,000 jobs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs—a move that is likely to impact [ [link removed] ] veterans’ care and services across the country.

“Republicans are messing with lives and livelihoods by recklessly firing federal workers and veterans, making drastic guts to popular programs kids, families, seniors, and farmers depend on, and hurting our kids and our schools by threatening to cut the Department of Education—all to help pay for tax cuts for rich millionaires and billionaires,” said Gov. Evers. “Our loved ones, friends, and neighbors who have bills to pay and families to feed have been fired for no fault of their own, including veterans, their spouses, and people dedicated to serving our veterans every day, people working to help fight the avian flu, and even people whose jobs are to help keep us safe in dangerous weather. Republicans’ actions are wrong, illegal, and bad for our state and our country—that’s why we’re headed to court to try and stop them.”

Wisconsin is joining a multi-state lawsuit against President Trump and the Trump Administration for large-scale, reckless firings that have thrown tens of thousands of Americans across the country into chaos after being indiscriminately fired for no fault of their own. The lawsuit argues that the Trump Administration has unlawfully directed federal agencies to conduct mass terminations of federal employees suddenly and without advance notice, leaving families who have bills to pay and families to feed in Wisconsin and across the country in the lurch.
