It’s the truck for every dude in your life trying to compensate

We know it’s hard to find joy in these trying times. But next time you get cut off by some asshole driving a Cybertruck, you can feel confident that nearly everyone around you hates them just as much as you do.

In a ✨ newsletter exclusive ✨ poll, we showed voters a picture of the Tesla Cybertruck and asked them whether or not it’s a well-designed car. A solid 75% of voters, including 66% of Republicans, say it isn’t. It’s got to be tough for Musk’s ego, which is about as fragile as a Cybertruck window.

We don’t know about y’all, but we’re not super eager to buy a car from the guy who can’t accurately say how much money DOGE has cancelled or build a tunnel system that goes more than 35 miles per hour. And while we’re not engineering experts here at DFP, we think Americans are quite justified in being wary of a truck that keeps bursting into flames at nearly the rate of Elon’s own rockets.

Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:

A republic, if you can sell it for profit

It’s hard to look at the state of the government these days and think it's anything other than three tech billionaires in a trenchcoat. Can all these rich guys just screw off to the White Lotus, work out their weird insecurities, and leave the rest of us alone?

Thankfully, the man, the myth, the legend Bernie Sanders kicked off his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour across the country, and he’s been met by large, energetic crowds. Wow, meeting voters where they are and mobilizing them to fight for a working class agenda, what a concept! cc: Congressional Democrats.

In a new poll, we find that a majority of voters can identify the definition of “oligarchy,” or a government where power is concentrated in the hands of a small, wealthy elite. And 60% of voters say the U.S. is at least “somewhat” of an oligarchy, which makes sense when you take a look at *gestures broadly.*

And when asked to select whether the U.S. is heading toward a more democratic system or an oligarchy, 48% of voters — including 67% of Democrats and 61% of Independents — say the U.S. is becoming more oligarchic.

separate DFP poll also finds that while an overwhelming majority of voters think it is important that the U.S. remains a democracy, only a slim majority think U.S. democracy is currently working well. Sixty-seven percent of Republicans say democracy is working well, which gives the energy of a toddler throwing a tantrum, breaking their favorite toy, and then getting it replaced by their parents. Just saying.

The state of the unions are strong!

We promise that if you can manage to get your plans out of the group chat and organize your friends for a weekend trip to Miami, you can organize your coworkers to form a union. And instead of a bad hangover and a sunburn, you actually get better pay and working conditions. Maybe make a union interest meeting your next Partiful invite?

A new poll from Data for Progress and BlueGreen Alliance finds that voters think that unions would help with benefits, wages, safety, job security, and satisfaction in the workplace.

While it is currently legal in the U.S. for employers to directly campaign their workers to dissuade them from unionizing, union neutrality agreements are commitments made by companies to not engage in a campaign to discourage their workers from organizing a union.

After learning what a union neutrality agreement is, a bipartisan majority of voters (63%) say they support the use of such agreements, including 68% of Democrats, 64% of Independents, and 57% of Republicans.

Honestly, with the success of Severance lately, it’s a shame that our favorite TV shows don’t have more storylines about unions and worker solidarity. Can you imagine Dwight Schrute on a picket line? Or a writers' strike at 30 Rock? Honestly, someone should help the Real Housewives unionize (we’re actually serious about this, btw).
