Email from Rep. Carter My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan – I wanted to provide you with an update on my work for Texas' 31st district in the United States House. ON THE DOCKET: President Trump's Joint Session Address Constituent Services: February Meeting with local VFW leaders What do you think? THE BRIEF: President Trump said Friday that he is "strongly considering" imposing sanctions and tariffs on Russia until it agrees to a ceasefire and peace deal that would halt Moscow's three-year war with Ukraine Get to know your neighbor, Fort Cavazos An alleged key figure in the suicide bombing targeting U.S. soldiers at Abbey Gate during the withdrawal from Afghanistan appeared in federal court in Virginia following his extradition PRESIDENT TRUMP'S JOINT ADDRESS TO CONGRESS This week, President Trump delivered a clear and unapologetic message in his joint address to Congress: The days of weakness and wokeness are over. A new dawn for America is here. He reaffirmed his commitment to revitalizing our nation, putting the American people first, and restoring common sense and the American Dream. With President Trump leading the way and congressional Republicans standing beside him, America will be strong, prosperous, and patriotic once again. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him to accomplish the America First agenda. CONSTITUENT SERVICES: FEBRUARY In February, my office assisted 204 constituents with issues involving a federal agency and secured $191,790 in back veterans' benefits, delayed Social Security, and owed IRS refunds. If you need help cutting through bureaucratic red tape, I'm here to help. Learn more about constituent services on my website.   MEETING WITH LOCAL VFW LEADERS This week in Washington, I met with local leaders from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to discuss an issue I am deeply passionate about—ensuring a smooth transition from active-duty service to civilian life and addressing the troubling rates of veteran suicide. We also examined the predatory practices of companies that exploit veterans by falsely claiming to assist with VA benefits. As Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee, I remain committed to working with VA Secretary Collins and this administration to ensure America's veterans receive the high-quality health care and services they deserve. WHAT DO YOU THINK? This weekend, clocks spring forward. There have been several bills to end daylight savings time before Congress. Your voice matters—take the TX-31 ‘What Do You Think’ survey here or by clicking on the question below. As always, thank you for staying informed about what’s happening in Texas’ 31st Congressional District. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and a privilege.
