Team,

The maternal health crisis in the U.S. is dire—and Black women are disproportionately affected. That is why the Center for Reproductive Rights partners with the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) [[link removed]] , centering the scholarship and activism of Black women who have been leading the way in sexual, maternal, and reproductive health care.

BMMA's work is crucial as we face new challenges from the anti-rights movement. They lead with innovative research, policy proposals, and educational resources—inspiring collective action in the fight for racial and birth justice.

"Our power isn't new, and it certainly isn't going anywhere. Through every storm, every setback, every closed door— we're still here, still rising ."
– Black Mamas Matter AllianceThe Center advances maternal health equity through our Maternal Health & Rights Initiative. We successfully extended Medicaid coverage to 12 months postpartum in nearly all states. Now we’re working to remove legal barriers for skilled midwives, expand access to high quality maternity care, and address pervasive racism in the health care system.

Black women deserve to live in a world where they have the rights, respect, and resources they need to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy (BMMA)—let's make that world a reality together.
