Trump’s latest attack on clean energy is as corrupt as it gets, John.
He’s trying to defund a program that’s lowering energy costs, creating good-paying jobs, and cleaning up our air — all because it dares to invest in low income and disadvantaged communities.
You may not have heard of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund before – so let’s take a look at what this means. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund is a $27 billion initiative helping families and small businesses:
Lower utility bills through financing home energy efficiency upgrades at scale
Be self-sufficient, enhancing U.S. energy independence
Improve air quality and climate resiliency, contributing to a better quality of life
Career prosecutors have already said there’s no legitimate case here for freezing these funds. In fact, when Washington’s top prosecutor Denise Cheung was ordered by the Trump administration to investigate the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, she resigned rather than go against what’s right.
Let’s be clear, John: this isn’t about oversight. It’s about sabotaging progress and keeping low-income communities from accessing the clean energy future they deserve.
