Labor are fast-tracking citizenship for thousands of people, just in time for the election.
Their priority? Marginal Labor-held seats. This is political interference at its worst.
Normally citizenship ceremonies are run by local councils.
It is unprecedented for the government to hold industrial-scale citizenship ceremonies, and for the Minister to be personally involved.
Senior Labor Minister Tony Burke will personally hand citizenship certificates to thousands of people living in electorates including Parramatta, Werriwa, and Fowler.
Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun said:
“This is bulls**t.”
“Why have they approved 700 citizenship applications for the seat of Werriwa while people living all over Sydney are still waiting in line,” he said.
“They are stacking marginal seats better than Woolworths stacks shelves.”
Electoral Commission officials are attending the ceremonies and people are being told to make sure they to speak with them about enrolling before they leave.
Since the election Labor has allowed more than 1,600,000 additional people into the country (a 6.2% increase in our population in just a few years).
For three years Labor has had the wrong priorities.
Their policies are costing families tens of thousands of dollars in higher mortgage payments, higher rents, and more expensive electricity and groceries.
Some families now can’t afford to see a doctor.
We can’t afford three more years of Albanese and Labor.
We need to change the Government.
