John,

According to Elon Musk, young mothers, the elderly, veterans, and anyone else who relies on federal programs are a “parasite class.”

This reveals the type of contempt we’re dealing with.

My parents who are on Social Security, my neighbor who is on Medicaid, and anyone in my district who depends on these programs are not parasites. They are everyday, hardworking people who are the least deserving of this disparagement.

John, the idea that Elon Musk is meddling in government spending out of the goodness of his heart is pure fantasy. I urge my colleagues praising him for supposedly “cutting costs” to get right with themselves immediately and reflect:

Who is he really standing up to, and who is he kicking in the teeth?

I can tell you right now that the only people Donald Trump and Elon Musk are looking out for are themselves.

This administration has made it clear that cutting costs and budgeting around tax cuts for billionaires is their first priority, and I’m just as outraged as you are, John.

I’m standing up for our shared priorities every day in Congress, and I don’t care how rich, powerful, or influential you are — nothing is going to stop my fight for the hardworking people of Vermont and our country.

We must continue to apply pressure and let the Trump administration know that we’re not backing down anytime soon.

Through all the chaos and confusion, I’m grateful to have you on my team.

Sincerely,

Becca
